Most: A Bridge Between Reggio Emilia and the Balkans

The brief aims to communicate the relationship between Reggio Emilia and Sarajevo and raise awareness about Bosnia's tragic war in the 1990s. Bosnia’s history is still relatively unknown in Italy, especially among young people (ages 15-30), the target audience of this project. The poster seeks an artistic-poetic approach to evoke empathy and curiosity about Bosnia’s struggles and activism. The focus is the fight for human rights that involved the entire Bosnian population and whose wounds remain unhealed. Despite ethnic divisions, people are united in a shared desire to recover their lost identity. My proposal reflects this path of reclaiming and rebuilding the self.

Harshly sewn with red thread, the artwork uses common materials to convey raw reality, with red symbolizing blood, strength, and emotion. An anonymous figure, representing many, is depicted on torn, stained white fabric, reflecting a turbulent past. Incisive lines heighten the dramatic effect.

The dress is a translation of the manifesto into a communication garment. The wounds of war are represented by cuts on the dress that reveal skin or red fabric beneath. These cuts can be closed with zippers, turning into scars through the deconstruction of the dress. They run all around it. The writings, referencing the violence of war, are sewn in violently, just like the fabrics in the manifesto.
